Otakon (and some Jecy)
I am going to Otakon this year, as I have every year since 1994 (in other words, longer than a large percentage of the attendees have been alive). At this point, I mostly go to get autographs for my laserdiscs. But this year the guest lineup is… well, mostly newer folks in the industry, and there is very little I can get signed. Pretty much just Noboru Ishiguro, in fact.
Usually I bring an assistant with me to Otakon (aka my girlfriend) to help me obtain more autographs, but this year she will not be able to join me. I might be willing to pay someone to sit in line with me to get extra autographs, but I haven’t really decided on that yet. Considering the line to see him will be disrespectfully short it may not even be an issue.
I was actually thinking of bailing on Otakon this year – at this point they only show dubbed anime, and I used to spend the majority of the convention zipping from theatre to theate, but I consider dubs to be abomination and will not watch them. So now I mostly go for autographs, but right up until a few days ago they hadn’t announced any guests I had any interest in. Sad.
The translator and I are doing the final checks on Jecy 6, and I have just sent Jecy 7 to the translator to begin the final checks. So, 6 at very least will probably be out this week, and 7 should follow close behind.
And please don’t waste time leaving comments along the lines of, “But THIS dub is really great,” because you’re wrong.

I don’t usually talk about this topic online, because most people have already made up their minds, but it’s always nice to see other people who agree that English dubbed anime is completely worthless.
Yep. ‘Abomination’ pretty much sums it up.
Give me subs or give me death.
Hope you enjoy the con (even if it’s only for one signature.)
I agree with you about dubbed anime at cons. I remember back when fansub groups would “premiere” their latest work at cons. I miss those days.
