Down with the sickness. Ooh ah ah ah ah.
by erik

I’m not going to write up a full review of Otakon, because I try to keep this from being a general anime and/or personal blog. I’ll just say this: I’m probably never going back. It left me sick at heart and I was badly depressed about my entire life by the time I was back home, and then I got physically ill as well – I slept 15 hours on Thursday. Also, I’m moving this month, so I’ve been packing everything.

Long story short, no Jecy 7 yet, but I’ll try to finish it up this coming week. Jecy 8+ probably won’t happen until after I move.

Con-ing is not what it used to be or us old-skoolers, is it? I sympathize with you.

Probably all the more reason to just concentrate on the big things for now (i.e. recovering from illness and then successfully moving).
Anime should be enjoyed when it can be truly savored.
    Thus, we can wait.

Hope you get settled into a new place well.

“Being a fan” is less important than “appreciating culture” anyway, I’ve never understood the appeal of cons (or autographs for that matter, lol!).

But the idea that dubbed anime is somehow bad is just pathetic. A subbed-only edition of a kids’ anime excludes the show’s intended audience. I raised my daughter on dubbed anime, but was careful to point out that the original versions were better. Since she was about 10 she has watched subs instead. Simple.

Subbers and long-time fans often seem to think their personal preferences count for more than younger people or recent fans, but that’s just cause they’re old and grumpy and it has nothing to do with reality.

Having said that, I dislike American accents so dubbed anime is horrible for me, too…
